How to “Win” at the Job Fair

Job Fairs. Your opportunity to find work locally, meet new people, and expand  your job search. Sometimes you can even leave a job fair with an interview or training options, or even a job offer!. Here’s some handy tips to help you get the most out of your experience- and to “win” at the job fair. 

 

Arrive early 

Being at the Job Fair early means you’ll have access to more of the stalls as they won’t be as busy yet- meaning you’re more likely to have their undivided attention giving you an edge. 

 

Pick up as many leaflets that interest you as possible 

Pick up as many leaflets/guides/brochures as possible that interest you- you don’t have to feel pressured to read all of them at the event, you can take them home with you and follow up on them later.  

 

Meet new people  

Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and meeting as many new people as possible at each of the stalls at the Job Fair can really help in a variety of ways. It can help to sharpen your social skills, make professional connections, and keep you in the mind of people looking to hire- being memorable is not a bad thing. 

 

Fully explore the job fair 

Depending on where the job fair is located, it might be taking place across different floors or halls- take your time to fully explore the job fair- opportunity could be anywhere.
