WorkWell will provide low intensity preventative support for employees and employers, to address health and wellbeing barriers impacting on individuals ability to work. It is aimed at both people employed and with a health condition that is impacting them, as well as those individuals recently unemployed and with a health condition. This is a major programme funded by the DWP, and Greater Manchester is the biggest of the 15 WorkWell programmes in the country. Both ourselves at the Council and colleagues in the NHS locally, along with our local Stockport delivery partner, Viaduct Care are keen that this is promoted widely, and people are encouraged to access the support.
In Work Progression, commissioned by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority as part of the Working Well brand, and will provide Stockport residents who are in work, with limited career progression opportunities (low skilled, low paid employment, self-employed with limited earning potential, zero-hour/casual/bank contracts), to support their progression by, for example, upskilling.
Work & Skills enquiries:
To receive help from either of these new programmes, or for information and advice accessing other existing work and skills support suitable to your needs, you can be referred by the new Work and Skills Navigator. The Work and Skills Navigator is a new Stockport Council post, funded via Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and will act as the single point of contact for residents, employers and front-line services supporting customers, seeking help for work and skills needs. The Work and Skills Navigator will provide a ‘Work and Skills triage’ support in helping Stockport residents, employers, and frontline services in accessing the necessary services and provisions that they may need.
