'British answer to Amazon' Onbuy to open Manchester office creating over 100 jobs
Onbuy claims to be the world's fastest-growing marketplace and a British "ethical alternative" to Amazon. They have now announced plans to open an office in Manchester as part of a £10m investment, creating over 100 jobs.
OnBuy.com was launched by Trafford entrepreneur Cas Paton back in 2016, and four years on is now worth £115m, aiming to revolutionise the eCommerce sector by providing a fair, transparent and ethical marketplace benefiting buyers and sellers.
OnBuy said it has just recorded an all-time record-breaking week with nearly 1.5m users browsing the site, resulting in nearly £2.75m in sales in the week commencing November 1 – an 837% increase in sales on the same period in 2019.
The firm hopes to be in more than 140 countries by the end of 2023, starting with 42 initial sites by year-end 2020.
The OnBuy Manchester office is set to open in March 2021 with job roles being advertised in the spring.
